A barrel rarely fails without warning: the signs are in the blades, the centre band and the welds long before the day it lets go. Know what to look for, and talk to our barrel team when they start showing.
What We Look At
Five checks that tell you how your barrel is going.
These are the points that decide how long a barrel lasts, and the same standards we design our own barrels to meet. With decades of experience behind every inspection, we’ll tell you straight where your barrel stands.
Capacity
Is your barrel still right for the job, and still delivering the capacity your loading and mixing work originally demanded? The barrel should suit the work, not the other way around.
Blades
We check for blade wear and any early signs of splitting. Press-formed blades with mesh backing resist both, but years of aggregate take their toll on any blade. Remember, Cesco Australia offers a re-blade service if your blades are not performing optimally.
Centre band
The wear-resistant centre band and cones protect the shell where the wear is heaviest. We check how much life it has left, so you can act before the shell itself starts to wear.
Track ring welds
The welds around the track ring are what keep a barrel working instead of splitting. They’re worth a close look every time the barrel is inspected and checked for signs of any cracks.
Dished end
The reinforced dished end and its internal chamber carry the load at the closed end of the barrel. We check it for wear and damage, especially around the gearbox mount ring.
